Bad Segeberg attracts thousands of tourists yearly because of the Karl May open-air theater show about Winnetou the Indian. Karl May wrote many popular novels about Winnetou and the stories fascinate young and old alike. Next to the arena, there is a small “western town” to visit after the show to enhance the old western feeling.
Other attractions include the underground caves of Bad Segeberg, “Noctalis” the bat exibition at Kalkberg, the Kalkberg mountain itself and the Lake Segeberg for hours of serenity.
Since a few years Bad Segeberg has been hosting a festival at Christmas called “Country Goes Christmas”. The location is at the Kalkberg Western Town where the annual Karl May theatre productions are held.
