Birds

Birds are so fascinating to observe. Already when it is spring and the different types start looking for nesting areas to raise their young, it is interesting to watch the process from the beginning until the young birds hatch and grow. And what is a spring morning or summer’s evening without the melody of the songbirds? Some birds have such a charming song and do not even realise how pleasing it is for human ears to hear.

Other birds, such as water birds can be seen at the rivers, lakes and oceans. It is intersting to watch them in their natural habitat and learn something about them.

Garden Birds
Photographing birds can be challenging but with time and patience, you can get really lucky. Common birds in this area include crows, blackbirds, sparrows, redstarts, chaffinches, greenfinches, blue tits, great tits, robins and the starlings. Every now and then more exotic birds stop by like woodpeckers and jays.

Sea Birds
All of these birds have one thing in common and that is life at the ocean.

Ducks, Geese and Swans
Whether you spend a day out at the pond or the lake, these birds keep us company during our stay. Sometimes they are just spending time on the grass and soaking up some sun, swimming along or dipping their heads in the water for fish. They are pleasant to watch and it is especially wonderful to see mother birds with their young ones swimming along. How cute they sound with their chick-like calls.

Eurasian Blackbird
The blackbirds often frequent the yard throughout the year. The males are quite abundant and such proud birds with their pretty black feathers. In spring, during mating season, they sit on the tree tops or on the roof tops and sing loudly and lovely to mark their territory. Especially during the early morning and in the evening around sunset, you can hear their beautiful song.

Sparrows
Two types of sparrows are located in our area and there are about 30-40 of them that show up regularily at the feeding area and at the bird baths. The one type is the house sparrow (Passer domesticus) and the other the Eurasian tree sparrow (Passer montanus).
