Sand World 2007 in Travemünde, Germany - Travelling through Time - “Sun Dial”
Sandworld was an annual exibition in Travemünde, Germany between the years 2002-2007. Each year, a new subject is covered and the theme for 2007 was “Travelling Through Time”. All exibitions were grouped together according to specific topics such as: Greek Mythology, The World of Literature, Famous Paintings, Famous Buildings, Historical Events, Transportation, Evolution, Fashion, Music, etc.... Each theme group displays sand sculptures of the past until present. One had to take a ferry over to the exibition which is across from the town of Travemünde and the cost of the entrance for an adult was 7 Euros (includes the price of the ferry). The exibition existed until September, 2007.

Here was examples of sculptures of Julias Ceaser and Cleopatra, King Arthur, R2D2 and C3PO, the early cave dwellers, Christopher Columbus, William Shakespeare, The French Revolution, Johann Sebastian Bach, The Knights of the Round Table, William Shakespeare, the first landing on the moon, the Beatles with Robbie Williams, The Last Supper, The Fall of the Berlin Wall, etc...
Because of financial reasons, the 2007 Sandworld this was sadly the last exibition of this kind.
A special hardening sand is used to create the life-like sculptures to preserve them from weathering.
